Welcome to the Lyckerty Splyt Ceilidh Band website through which you can learn more about the band and obtain details about booking us for your next barn dance. We are a 6 piece "traditional/electric" Ceilidh band based in central Essex and for more than 20 years we've been providing a great night's entertainment for all ages.

To hear what we sound like there are some short clips of us playing a few tunes on the "Our Music" page.

The Ceilidh, pronounced "Kay-lee", is a Gaelic word for an informal get together. It has changed from the early story telling evenings to a more musical affair.  Today, the Ceilidh is more often billed as a Barn Dance. The Barn Dance has been associated with the the American "hoe down" with Stetsons and Gingham, but the Ceilidh has its roots firmly on this side of the pond.

Lyckerty Splyt's dances are all English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish and the music is pretty much from there too, well nearly all.

If you've never "Stripped the Willow" or made the "Bridge of Althlone", then no problem full instructions are given before every dance and you'll be up and away in no time.  We cater for all levels of ability and age and guarantee you'll have a great time.
